Melinda + Matthew

Mel and Matt’s Gold Coast wedding was anything short of amazing. From getting ready in a skyrise apartment at the footsteps of Broadbeach, to saying their I do’s nestled in the gardens of Ecolodge Fellini. When they first asked me to fly over to Queensland to photograph their wedding, I immediately went into overdrive and started planning. I chatted with a couple of photographer friends that I have in Queensland and drew up a plan of where I could take the couple for their photo shoot.

Being a Tasmanian, as soon as I stepped out in that Queensland heat I pretty much melted into a puddle. Luckily there was plenty of shade and the refreshments were flowing by the many. I swear the heat topped 40 during the ceremony, but that was probably just the close confinement of 100 odd happy wedding goers all clustered together.

My favourite part of this shoot was the very end. Down by the creek there was this tiny little pocket of overgrown shrubbery where the light was falling perfectly. Mel was an absolute legend and was happy to go along with anything that I asked of her, so when I said “Hey Mel, do you reckon you could climb down here? I’ve got a sick idea for some photos!”. She didn’t even hesitate! We ended up with some mad portraits that look like we were deep inside the Amazon jungle. MOOD!
