Luke + Rosie

Freycinet, sunrise and a surprise engagement, so much yes! Luke messaged me months in advance to tell me about his and Rosie’s plans to travel to Tasmania, where he would be surprising her with a ring. We brainstormed a few location ideas, but given he wanted a place that was iconic in Tasmania, Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park seemed an obvious choice.

Up at 5am after spending the previous day hiking in Ben Lomond and shooting the incredible Mon and Ali (click here to see shoot), I crawled out of the back of my campervan and drove to our starting point. I spent the first 45 minutes walking with Luke and Rosie to the lookout point, and the entire time all I could think was “don’t say anything about the engagement”. You see, we’d just told Rosie that we were doing a couple’s shoot, so I had to try and play it cool…and I’m somewhat of an excitable and over-the-top kinda person.

We reached our sunrise/proposal location, after I’d made the soon-to-be-engaged couple climb behind a fence and slide down some massive boulders. It was here that we took in the stunning views of Freycinet and Wineglass Bay, before Luke got down on one knee and popped the big question. After shedding some happy tears (mostly on my part), we continued our adventure through Freycinet for an awesome couple’s shoot using the warm morning light and beautiful surrounds.
