Cradle Mountain is one of the must-see destinations when visiting Tasmania, it has to be seen to be believed. I absolutely love taking photos there. The snow, the epic views and the WOMBATS, what’s not to love? As a photographer, I particularly love all of the colours and tones in the landscapes, they are so unique and really compliment my style of photography.
I headed up to Cradle Mountain in wintery August for a double-banger weekend. An intimate elopement at Cradle Mountain Lodge and an adventurous engagement shoot at Cradle Mountain itself. Michael and Courtney got engaged this year and took me up on an adventurous shoot at one of their favourite locations in Tasmania. Days before the shoot the forecast looked grim, but on the day, it was actually perfect hiking weather. Once we climbed to the top of Hansons Peak, that’s where the snow thickened and the wind became blistering cold. It was totally worth the frostbite though. Cradle Mountain is breath-taking from the top of Hansons Peak – you get a front row seat to the Cradle and all of its surroundings. A few photos and snowballs later, we made our way down from the peak and cracked cans of Corona while overlooking the stunning vista of Cradle Mountain National Park.
After the shoot, I cozied up by the fire in the pub at Cradle Mountain Lodge and treated myself to a parmi and pint – not a bad way to end a day of hiking and photographing Cradle Mountain and this beautiful couple!
